With acceptances at more than 85 college campuses in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and merit awards totally $1.7 million dollars, I'm very proud of the accomplishments of this year's senior class. The entering college class of 2016 included students with a range of interests and abilities. They attended small start-up high schools, magnet academic schools, schools of the arts, Jesuit, public and private schools . Their interests included architecture, dance, theatre, nursing, business, athletics, engineering, pre-med and the social sciences, fine arts, and humanities. Please see the updated college admissions page on this website.

In March, I offered my first college fair exclusively for Education Planner clients. Thirteen colleges and several summer programs, test prep and tutoring services, and employers, met with families for two hours in an intimate and informal setting. The colleges thought the event was so successful that we are already securing a date for a Fall Fair in October.

I have also been working in international education and became a member of the Overseas Educational Consulting Association in 2011. For the past year I have been consulting with Paladin Learning Center in Shanghai to prepare Chinese students for American colleges. We developed a certificate program for 45 high school students attending a summer institute at Berkeley on American Culture and Politics.

This spring I continued my own study of essay writing and was invited to attend the OpEd Institute for women writers. A component of this program is my access to mentors from publications such as the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times who will be editing and providing feedback on my own essays as I prepare them for publication . In September, I will be teaching a course on college essay writing at UC Berkeley Extension, teaching other independent counselors and school counselors to evaluate and edit student essays. Several of this year's senior class contributed their essays to a book i am writing with a colleague about contemporary teen issues.

I was able to fit in a few college visits recently to Trinity College in Dublin, Gettysburg College in PA, and the University of Pennsylvania. In late April, I will serve as moderator for the Consortium of Irish Universities when they meet in Palo Alto to recruit American students. In May I will be visiting Brown University.

As the academic year comes to a close, freshman and sophomores should begin exploring colleges, and juniors will begin working on college applications in June.

As always I welcome your calls and questions and look forward to hearing from you.
